WHAT WE’RE LEARNING
A Day At Sunday School
We begin each morning all together with prayer and praise. New songs are learned and practiced followed by intercessory prayers requested by students and teachers. From there, the students are dismissed to their classrooms and age-appropriate lessons.
Nursery
Learning through play is the primary function with an emphasis on the concepts of sharing and kindness.
Ages 1 month to 3 years old.
Preschool to First Grade
We will be introducing and talking about some of the people you will meet in the Bible, such as Noah, Queen Esther, Jonah, and Samuel to name a few. This will be accomplished through story time, arts and craft projects, songs, and discussions.
Second to Fourth Grade
The students will be taking a deep dive into Moses as well as memorizing prayers and the Ten Commandments. This will be accomplished through reading the Bible, discussions, writing tasks, projects, and practice. As it gets closer to Christmas, discussion will turn to the story of the Nativity.
Fifth to Seventh Grade
The students will be following the Sunday church scripture lessons with discussion along with an appropriate handout for home. Practicing of prayers heard in the church service will also continue. Pumpkin carving and Christmas ornament making will take place too.
Eighth to Twelfth Grade
Here, the students will be discussing what success means to each of them with a look into the future. They will focus on how relating to God and reading the Bible will help them be their best self in dealing with everyday issues. Understanding and applying passages in the Bible will help the students take ownership of their own success.
Next, the class will focus on the life of Jesus and the Apostles. They will learn about the type of lives the Apostles were leading before following Jesus. Jesus’s miracles and the important work of the Apostles after Jesus’s death will be discussed. In addition, the students will be led in discussions relating to how Jesus’s teachings apply to them today.
