“The Welcoming Congregation: Roots and Fruits of Christian Hospitality”
by the Reverend Henry G. Brinton
Will begin August 16th, 2016 @ 7pm
Sessions will be each Tuesday, begining at 7pm, for nine weeks.
By studying the Roots and Fruits of Christian Hospitality, we will learn how to live out the Summary of the Law, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. And you shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ And we address “great the challenge of Christian hospitality: to embrace all people as God has embraced us in Christ,” which involves developing the skills to see everyone as a child of God, a sinner for whom Christ died, a person bearing the image of God—no matter how obscured that image might be through personal sinfulness or societal prejudice. (Chapter 1)
St. Matthias Church is a welcoming place and we can become even-more hospitable by discovering effective ways to reach across differences and practice God’s welcome by studying this book together.
