DESCRIPTION:Today we give thanks for the life and witness of the Rev. Canon Nelson W. Pinder\, a faithful priest\, courageous civil rights leader\, and beloved son of the Episcopal Church in Central Florida. \nServing at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Orlando for more than five decades\, Canon Pinder believed that the Gospel called Christians to work for justice. Known as Orlando’s “Street Priest\,” he helped lead peaceful efforts to end segregation\, advocated for voting rights and equal opportunity\, and ministered to those on the margins with unwavering compassion. His ministry embodied the promise we make in our Baptismal Covenant: to strive for justice and peace among all people\, and to respect the dignity of every human being. \nLet us pray: “Almighty and compassionate God\, you kindled the flame of love in the heart of your servant\, Nelson W. Pinder\, to provide bold leadership\, manifested in non-violent action\, with faith to combat the sin of racism.  Inspire us to continue the cause of civil rights for all. Give us the grace to respect the dignity of every human being\, for your Love’s sake\, Jesus the Christ\, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit\, one God\, now and forever. Amen.” \nAs we remember Canon Pinder\, may his example inspire us to follow Christ with courage\, humility\, and love\, seeking reconciliation in our communities and serving our neighbors as he so faithfully did.

Join us on Friday\, September 18th\, from 5:00–7:30 pm in the Parish Hall for a festive Italian-themed meal that’s sure to have something for everyone—with both vegetarian and meat options available. \nAdult tickets are $20 and children under 12 eat for free! Tickets will be available for purchase in between Sunday services or online through Realm—just select “Italian Night” as the giving fund. There will also be a fun activity for our younger guests to enjoy. \nBring your appetite\, invite your friends and family\, and come enjoy a night of good food and even better company.
