FELLOWSHIP & EVENTS

Shrove Tuesday Mardi Gras Dinner, 2024

Our Fellowship Opportunities

At St. Matthias, fellowship works to provide opportunities for all members of the parish to get to know one another and become friends. As a healthy congregational body, the members of the church know and enjoy the company of each other. As friendships develop, members are better able to minister to one another and to share in spiritual growth and service to the community.

Listed below are our various fellowship opportunities. If you are interested in any of these fellowship opportunities, feel free to reach out to the church office and we will be more than happy to assist.

Coffee & Conversation

Following our 9:30 am service, join us in the Parish Hall for coffee, refreshments, and most importantly, fellowship. This is a wonderful opportunity to partake in enriching conversations, spiritual or mundane, and get to know your fellow parishioners.

Newcomers’ Lunch

To help newcomers get acquainted with our church family and to foster connections within our community, Fr. Jim hosts an annual Newcomers’ Lunch. Here, parishioners new and old are able to share a delicious meal while getting to know one another.

Friday Night Game Night

At 6:30 pm on the third Friday of every month, adult parishioners and friends get together in the Parish Hall for an evening of games, food, and fellowship. Everyone is welcome to bring their favorite game, snacks, or refreshments to share with those who attend.

Mary Jane Sales Women’s Fellowship Group*

This social group, named after our friend and founder, the late Mary Jane Sales, is open to all adult female members of the church. The group meets and enjoys a variety of activities, including day trips, game days, purse auctions, crafts, guest speakers, and even retreats.

Men’s Prayer Breakfast*

The Men’s Prayer Breakfast is a social group open to all adult male members of the church for Christian fellowship. Here, members can enjoy the company of others over delicious breakfast foods, ranging from various muffins to sweet fruits.

Monthly Men’s Luncheon

Also known as the Retired Men’s Luncheon, this fellowship group is open to all adult male members of the church and is coordinated by our organist, Hugh Dial. Each month, members meet at a restaurant of choice for fellowship and meaningful conversation.

*Due to Covid-19, this event has been put on hold, but we hope to bring it back soon!

Our Annual Events

Our fellowship opportunities provide a variety of ways for individuals and families to engage with our church community and build lasting relationships. Whether you’re looking to deepen your faith, connect with others who share your interests, or simply enjoy meaningful conversations over a cup of coffee, there’s something for everyone in our fellowship programs.

Listed below are our various Annual Events. If you have any questions or are interested in a particular event, feel free to reach out to the church office and we will be more than happy to assist.

Pet Blessing & Vendor Fair, 2023

Annual Parish Picnic

A festive family event, the Annual Parish Picnic takes place the Sunday after Easter. Meats from the grill and drinks are provided with parishioners bringing in their favorite pot-luck side dishes and desserts. There are games for the children and fun for all.

Shrove Tuesday Mardi Gras Dinner

What was once our Annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper has transformed into a festive Mardi Gras dinner hosted by our Monthly Men’s Luncheon group. Enjoy homemade New Orleans and Caribbean foods prepared by parishioners, ending with delicious king cake for dessert.

Sunday School’s Christmas Program

To get into the holiday spirit, our Sunday School puts on a Christmas Program during the 5:00 pm Christmas Eve service. From scripted live nativity scenes to more casual conversations about the true meaning of Christmas, the program is sure to delight all who attend.

St. Nicholas Festival*

A community event to celebrate St. Nicholas Day, this festival coincides with the Clermont Christmas Parade and features free cookies, games, puzzles, and crafts for the children. A highlight of the event is a picture with St. Nicholas and a traditional gift of candy and fruit.

Vacation Bible School

In 2023, we hosted our first Vacation Bible School with the theme “Keepers of the Kingdom” and now hope to continue doing so every summer. Here, we’re able to share the love of God with both the children in our parish and those in our community.

Pet Blessing & Vendor Fair

The Blessing of the Animals honors the legacy of St. Francis and is held annually at St. Matthias. Parishioners and those in our community bring their pets to be prayed over in a spiritually moving service, and in 2023, the event was expanded to include vendors and other exciting activities.

*Due to Covid-19, this event has been put on hold, but we hope to bring it back soon!
