Independence Day
July 4
As we celebrate 250 years of our nation’s independence, we give thanks for the freedoms we enjoy and pray for the grace to use them wisely. We also recognize that every generation is called to continue the work of creating a nation where justice, dignity, and peace are shared by all.
As the Book of Common Prayer reminds us, “Give to the people of our country a zeal for justice, and the strength of forbearance, that we may use our liberty in accordance with thy gracious will.”
May God bless our nation with wisdom, humility, and hope.
